Cycling
The entire Falsterbo Peninsula is known for its relaxing beach life, beautiful beaches, and unique nature with fragrant pine forests, which we believe are best experienced on foot or by bicycle.
It’s not only the Skåneleden hiking trail that passes Strandvillan; the Sydkustleden cycling route also passes just a little way away, and the Näset Runt route is just as enjoyable by bike as it is on foot. We have a close collaboration with Hyr en Hoj. If you don’t have a bike with you, it’s easy to order one from them, and they will deliver it directly to Strandvillan.
Half-Day Excursion
Cycle along the old Banvallen (bike path) down to the harbor in Skanör for lunch, coffee, or dinner. It’s a lovely 10 kilometers along well-maintained bike paths. If you have a mountain bike with you, you can instead follow the Skåneleden trail to get further into nature and closer to the sea. Cycling back in the evening is safe and easy on the well-lit Banvallen. About halfway between Strandvillan and Skanör, there is a nice shelter with a grill area.
Another Great Excursion
Start from Strandvillan and head toward Ljunghusen Golf Club. From there, follow the Skåneleden trail across our beautiful heath to reach Falsterbo. At two points, you’ll need to lift your bike over a fence that keeps the friendly cows from wandering off. This is not a designated bike trail, but the Skåneleden hiking trail can be followed by bike. From Falsterbo, you can then cycle along the old Banvallen to Skanör and back to Strandvillan. How long the trip takes depends on how many swimming or ice cream stops you make, but the route is about 30 km on easy terrain.
The Culture Tour
Start from Strandvillan and cycle 5 km to Fotevikens Museum on the outskirts of Höllviken. The entire route follows the coast on nice bike paths, passing through Höllviken town with opportunities for food, swimming, and shopping.
Fotevikens Museum is an open-air museum. There are no glass display cases, marble-floored halls, descriptive signs, or traditional museum buildings. Instead, you’ll find a complete Viking village built using the materials and techniques of the time—historically as accurate as possible based on available archaeological and historical sources. A true family adventure.
Then continue cycling to the Amber Museum in Kämpinge, where you can learn everything there is to know about amber in a playful way—just like Foteviken’s Viking village, it’s a hit with families. From the Amber Museum back to Strandvillan is about 5 km, and be sure to take a dip at Kämpinge Beach along the way.
You can find lots more cycling inspiration on the Sydkustleden website.
